40: Mellow Chevelle - O

Hot Wheels continue to heat up their 40th year with the second color release of their '70 Chevelle SS Station Wagon in yellow!

As cool as the blue version, this is one muscle car station wagon you do not want to miss!

Yellow with black racing stripes on the hood, this Chevelle also sports a black interior which differs from the white of it's predecessor.

I don't recommend passing on this one - the blue version was difficult for me to find and I don't think Hot Wheels fans are going to pas up this color variation very often either.

I'm glad that even though they changed the color and interior, they kept the five spoke wheels - those are the best looking wheels Hot Wheels currently offers and they really scream "Muscle Car!"

Anyone need groceries...fast?

  2. Wow, it does look great - I'm definitely gonna have to get some of these! I hope they're not as scarce as the blue and white first edition - I still haven't found any more than the two I got at Kmart Days a few months ago. They're hard to find, all right.

  3. Just thinking out loud, but I wonder how they came up with this color combination? Did you know that if you were to take a negative version of the blue and white one that it becomes yellow and black? And the negative of a white interior becomes black? I wonder if that's how they came up with this color? Believe it or not!

  4. LEon - I thought of Bumblebee when I saw this one too!

HaarFager - very interesting re: the negative!

Also, I only ever saw the blue one at K Days on single card too but the other day I found them on the Target two-packs that are at the cash registers (so I was finally able to pick one up for my dad!)

  5. It's cool your dad likes little cars, too! My dad doesn't really go for them, but he does have a couple 1:43 scale 1950 Chevrolet 4-door sedans from Solido that I'm going to customize to look like his real 1950 Chevy he's customizing himself.

  6. HaarFager - yeah my dad collected larger scale/higher end cars for my entire life, then I got him hooked on Hot Wheels a few years back and he's quite addicted now! That's awesome that you are making a custom to match your dad's ride - can't wait to see it on your blog!
