Aroooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First up is this generic Werewolf (or Wolfman.) He has absolutely no markings on him at all - but if I had to guess I would say he's a fast food premium, and may have been from the Jack in the Box promo from about a decade ago.

I love him, he's so simple (three points of articulation if you don't count the "neck," which I'd need to force to move if it's even supposed to) and generic yet he's got enough style to hang with any action figure in his scale. He's a werewolf, and that's cool enough dammit. He don't need no stinking trademark likeness!

Up next is Gill Man - or The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

This monster is always cool. Such a departure from the other traditional folklore and literature based Universal movie monsters, Gill-Man always stood above the rest in my opinion.

This version came from Burger King and was released in 1997. You can fill him with water and when you squeeze his belly, he spits! He's also somewhat translucent, and while I'd prefer he had neither an action feature nor translucence, he's pretty nice for a fast food premium.
I'd much prefer a generic werewolf.
ReplyDeleteMan, I'd have been all over that thing back in my Adventure People days (I had to be content with sculpting not-long-lasting heads out of modeling clay).
Nice finds E.
ReplyDeleteI remember when Burger King had the Gil Man but for the life of me i can't not remember any other toys they had or why they had them for? lol.
ReplyDeleteWolfMan is pretty nice looking and i agree simple is sometimes better sometimes.
That Wolfman is pretty nice, at first I thought it was an early Playmates design or something.
ReplyDeleteFast Food toys usually have an action feature, it's really sad when a kid sees a toy and the first thing he needs to ask is "what does it do?"
Arkonbey - I have a pile of Adventure People I picked up recently - I'll have to post some action pics with the monsters! Would love to see pics of your sculpting attempts too, if you have them.
ReplyDeleteThanks CB!
jboy - yes, simpler is often better in my book too.
FS - I agree, what's with all the damn action features in fast food toys these days? Kids need to use their IMAGINATION in play! :)
