Catwoman Purrrsday :: Kimberly Moore as TDKR Catwoman

Finishing off our Kimberly Moore double feature (and it is only a double feature because she has yet to cosplay as Poison Ivy!) today we bring you Kimberly Moore as The Dark Knight Rises Catwoman!

I'm sure this version of Catwoman cosplay will become ubiquitous within weeks but Kim's is the first I've seen and pretty damn good!

Those boots look deadly, and not just to walk in!

Kim cosplays many different characters, (see her bio on yesterday's Harley Qwednesday post) but her TDKR Catwoman may be my favorite.

There's just something about a gal in skin tight vinyl and stiletto heels. What can I say, I'm only human!

This guy's TDKR bane is pretty good too.

If you haven't already, be sure to follow Kimberly's Facebook page and look for her on the Convention circuit!
Thanks again, Kim!

Harley Qwednesday :: Kimberly Moore as Harley Quinn

This week is a Cosplay Double Feature, as we give you Kimberly Moore as Harley Quinn today and tomorrow you will see Kimberly Moore as TDKR Catwoman!

Oooh, dangerous!

Kim's Harley Quinn is an original creation and a great original 'take' on the character.

Automatic weapons; every gal needs to know how to properly accessorize!

Kiss kiss bang bang.

I'll let Kim take it from here:

My name is Kimberly Moore. I am an actress, model, singer and dancer. I live in New Jersey and I'm originally from upstate New York.

I have been cosplaying since 2009. I have cosplayed Luigi, Tails, Harley Quinn, Black Cat, Leeloo, American Dream, Ms. Marvel, Jessica Rabbit, TDRK Catwoman and Sue Storm. When I cosplay I like to put my own costumes together and make my own version of the character or make an exact costume of the character. Rather than buy a store bought costume.

My favorite cosplays so far are Sue Storm, Jessica Rabbit and TDKR Catwoman. I love going to conventions and I try to go to as many as I can. My favorite conventions I have attended are Otakon, NYCC and Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con. When I go to conventions I go there to promote myself as an actress and model.

I enjoy modeling fashion, swimwear, lingerie and my cosplays. I love acting on stage, fan films and feature films. My greatest goal is to make it big in the entertainment business and make myself known to everyone. Acting and modeling is my life, it makes me very happy and I want to share with the whole world. I am a very confident, talented and beautiful girl who has always wanted a place in the entertainment business and I hope I get that chance.

Well Kim, if making it onto Toyriffic two days in a row doesn't get you on the fast track to fame and fortune, I don't know what will! ;) Thanks a bunch!

Be sure to follow Kimberly Moore on her Facebook page, and tune in tomorrow for Kim as Catwoman!

Poisunday Ivy :: How to draw Poison Ivy

How to draw the Batman Animated version of Poison Ivy NOT designed by Bruce Timm. This version of Poison Ivy was actually designed by artist Lynne Naylor but is almost always incorrectly credited to Timm.

Random Cosplay Pic :: Serinda Swan as Zatanna

Love it or hate it, Smallville did a lot of great things for fans of Superman and comics in general in it's ten year run.

Topping the list; this:

Serinda Swan as the Mistress of Magic herself, Zatanna!

I think it's pretty noteworthy too, and the New DCU should especially take note, that Serinda's Zatanna costume is comic accurate and SUPER sexy, yet not very revealing.

Sexy is attitude and swagger - and not always skin.

"Evomer sehtolc!"

Okay, sometimes it's skin too.

If you want more Zatanna (and who doesn't?) swing over to The Other Side where Tim does a weekly Zatanna Saturday!

Catwoman Purrrsday :: Battle for Gotham City

When I saw the Target exclusive 'Battle for Gotham City' set of five The Dark Knight Rises action figures at The Batcave Toyroom, I knew I HAD to have it for Catwoman alone.

Although I scoured the local Targets and even put out an APB to my sister, a regular Targetaholic, I couldn't find the set anywhere near me. Thankfully The Batcave Toyroom's John (haha that sounds dirty) is awesome and offered to go back to his Target, where he found a set and even gifted it to me free of charge! Whatta guy!

See, dolly lovers aren't so bad after all ;)

The standout figure of the set is of course Catwoman. Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle is well represented here in appx. 4" of plastic. I am surprised however that they went with her 'ears down' look, as she looks less like a Catwoman in this version.

It also remains to be seen if this is set is the only way one can get their hands on this scale's Catwoman, but she has yet to appear in any other wave, so I bet it is. Especially since all the day-glo Batmen and dullsville Banes are likely to prevent this series from seeing a second wave.

That said, for the $21.99 asking price, this is a good set and worth the money. Read on:

In addition to Catwoman, you get four other figures in this set, so each figure comes to about $4.40 pre tax. That's a steal in today's market, although if you are an articulationazi (of which I am not,) you probably still feel slighted by the lack of articulation in these figures regardless of price.

Stealth Vision Batman is a neat figure for a Bat variant. His costume is acceptable as a comic variant and not gaudy or ridiculous. He also comes with two bladed weapons that actually look like they'd be more at home with Catwoman.

Ninja Bruce Wayne is also included. This figure saw release around Batman Begins I believe (at least in the 5" scale anyways,) so you may already have it. I don't, and it's a good representation of Bale as Bruce, so it's ok with me. Also, I suppose you could do a head swap with the Batman in this set and have a maskless version, which would be fun to have in this scale.

We've seen this Batman before as well, but I have a silvery variant so this all black version is also new to me. Not a spectacular figure, but for $4.40 I would not have a problem grabbing this set. Batman has a phaser type accessory that I believe showed up in a trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, but I won't know what it 'does' until I see the film.

Bane should be a great figure - he's definitely new and unique and movie accurate, but he's just bland.  I know his color palette and costume design are partially responsible for that fact, but he's also limited in his paint apps and details and therefore does little for me except excite me because I have a Tom Hardy Bane, probably the only one I will own until all the TDKR toys hit clearance (or the flea market.)

Here's the back of the set. Even in the professional shots, Bane looks uber-dull.

'They call me Bruce.'

'Boogie fever!'

The set comes with a nice diorama background showing the Gotham sewers, skyline and alleyways. Nice illustration, and if I was still a kid who played with my toys, or if I displayed in this sort of manner, I would certainly have kept it.

Of course when you have a Bane and a Batman you have to do the 'I will BREAK YOU!' pose.

Back to Catwoman. The costume's 'fabric' variations are well represented - her body suit is textured and her belt compartments look metallic whilst her boots and gloves are shiny.

The goggles are cool and the limited paint apps work for Catwoman; with red lips and blue lights on her night vision specs.

I would have still preferred the goggles up for the 'cat ears' look, but I won't complain. I never expected a Catwoman in this scale at all, and I am fine that it came to us in a Target exclusive set. Had it been a Walmart exclusive, I probably would have been pissed, because I can never find those.

Is it July 20th yet?

HUGE thanks again to John of Batcave Toyroom fame for this set!

Harley Qwednesday :: Bronies before Honies

I teach a cartooning class during the summer, and this session I have my first 'Brony' student. So I was inspired to draw a Harley Quinn Pony. I may clean this up someday, but for now, here's the sketch.

Tiny Heroes and Villains

My oldest daughter and I picked up this bunch at the flea market last weekend.

My favorites are Gorilla Grodd and classic Iron Man (the shiny one back row center.) We also have Batman (with what I assume are Kryptonite gloves) an Iron Man with removable mask, Ice Man, an Iron Man movie Mark 1 (or 2? - same as first movie armor but in gold,) another movie Iron Man, the classic Iron Man armor again but this time in more subtle colors, movie Green Goblin and Dr. Doom!

We got the lot for five bucks - that's fifty cents each! Not too shabby!

Catwoman Purrrsday :: Sweet Mother of God! (Literally)

Mother Mary Catwoman. Part of the Los Santos Superheroes collection by artist Igor Scalisi Palmonteri. I have to admit, these are all pretty cool.

Harley Qwednesday :: Harley Quinn and Harlequin!

Last year I asked Jeff of 'Inside Jeff Overturf's Head' to draw me a Harley Quinn cartoon. He obliged, but it took him a while to get around to it (which is totally fine, as an artist myself I probably owe lots of people promised drawings from years past too!)

The delay was perhaps Kismet. For given recent reveals over at DC Comics, Jeff was able to come up with the perfect punchline to his comic which combined Harley Quinn, Harlequin, and of course old Jeffy himself!

Thanks Jeff, now it's my turn to draw your request. I'll try to have it done before 2013! ;)

The bigger they are...the harder they Doll

This post goes out to my dolly lovin' bloggin' brethren. Specifically Reis, Colin, John, Jboy, and the MIA yet sorely missed Chunky B, Brian A and Brian B. I've given all these guys as much guff as humanly possible for their love of dollies and tea parties and the color pink. And they've all taken it pretty well. Although I often ponder whether or not Chunky B is still with us or if he was buried under an avalanche of Barbie Corvettes during a freak dollyvalanche in his dollroom in rural Texas.

I digress.

Gentlemen, this post is for you!

I bought a girl dolly:

I bought a girl dolly dressed in animal print.

I bought a Wonder Woman villain dolly.

I bought Cheetah.

"I bought a dolly, and I'm here to recruit you!"

I expect the comments section to light up with wit and hilarity; and maybe even some re-written song lyrics. Anything less will disappoint me greatly.

Come on, 'guys,' - let 'er rip!

Full genuine review to follow someday soon. I'll even include the best comments!

Feelin' Krangy

Tony from 'I'm Not a Kid Anymore' sent me his giant Android Body Krang - all the way from Australia!

I first discovered this version of Krang existed in action figure form when I found the 'standard' sized fellow at the flea market. Internet research led me to discover he had a massive counterpart. Years later Tony posted a picture of his massive Krang (get your minds out of the gutter) and I begged him for it and here we are! Now I have two! (Actually, I have three, this standard Krang was sent to me by Jboy of 'Revenge From the Cosmic Ark' a while back, and is in nicer shape than the one I found two years ago at the flea market. Funny how you can go from not knowing a toy exists to being buried in them in so short a time!)

Giant Sized Krang Thing here is in great shape, and is so incredibly nifty. He does have some play wear, as Tony liked to play with his toys (didn't we all?), and his antenna is missing, but otherwise he's perfect and I am glad to have him around Toyriffic HQ. He's just so ridiculous looking and awesome.

I have always loved the 'larger than life' character/figure additions to 'normal' sized figure themes, so having this big lug to go toe to toe with my TMNT is the definition of good times.

'I will hug him and squeeze him and call him Usagi.'

Of course just like with his mini-me version, the brain/blob Krang is removable from the android torso. As far as I know this larger Krang is the same figure as was released with his walking chair, which is the most common Krang figure around.

Android Body Krang is one of the all-time wackiest character designs ever and I just can't get enough of him in plastic form!

Thanks again to Tony (and Jboy too!)
