Darth Vader's Sith Starfighter

Today we take a look at the Expanded Universe Darth Vader Sith Starfighter from Hasbro. Basically just a re-color of the Jedi Starfighter, the Sith Starfighter is meant to bridge the gap between Anakin cruising downtown in his Jedi Starfighter and Vader picking up chicks in his TIE Advanced x1 TIE Fighter.

I don't collect much Star Wars stuff these days, and I generally steer clear of Prequel or Expanded Universe stuff, but this ship does look like it is at least on the right track to lead into the vehicles of Episodes IV-VI. Also, I found this spaceship at the local Goodwill 'Bargain Barn' so I got it for chump-change.

If you aren't familiar with the Bargain Barn, basically it is a hot, dirty, poorly ventilated warehouse full of large bins full of donated crap that you can dig through, and you buy the stuff either by weight or for a set price-per-bag.

Most of the stuff is broken junk, but sometimes you find a gem or two. This Sith Starfighter is missing the Astromech Droid and missiles, but is in excellent shape otherwise so it definitely made it worth the trip this time.

Usually when you are lucky enough to find something like this at the Bargain Barn, the cockpit lid will be lost or broken. But not in this case! I just need to track down a modern era Astromech droid now. Preferably one in black or grey.

I just don't see Darth Vader flying around in this thing; it screams '4-LOM' to me. Fortunately I have an original 4-LOM to pilot this hunk of junk. And since 4-LOM is a droid, he probably doesn't need the assistance of an Astromech droid anyways.

He fits perfectly, and his color scheme matches nicely.

The Sith Starfighter has two retractable landing gear feet up front, and four wing flaps that pop out at the push of a button. Again, I would usually expect to find these bits broken or inoperable while digging around at the Bargain Barn, so I'm pretty stoked that they are all here and that they all function perfectly.

  1. cool. I picked that up when it was new. I had some plans to create an animation or web comic about the end of the clone wars and beginning of Vader's life. I never did it and the fighter is still sitting in my basement.

    1. That makes me think I should do an animated battle scene with the chalkboard ala Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer video.

  2. I kind of like the ideal of the expanded universe myself much more so than the prequel stuff.

    1. It is pretty cool - and looks best in black. Maybe I should let Batman pilot it?

  4. Those chalk sparks shooting off behind the Starfighter is darn near Michael Bay esque ;) Awesome find and I would love to have a bargain barn to look through.
