Imaginext Kilowog :: No Poozers Allowed.

I'm not a big fan of the Green Lantern universe, but I do think the franchise got the shaft in the toy department when the Ryan Reynolds movie flopped. The theme pretty much dropped out of sight after the offerings meant to capitalize on that movie's expected success warmed pegs for what seems like eons. 'Evergreen' lines like Imaginext were especially unfairly hit, since these toys weren't directly tied to the movie.

With the upcoming release of an Imaginext Sinestro, as well as an all new Hal Jordan, it seems the curse may be over. The new Hal looks good and I may even track him down. I was never a fan of Imaginext's original Hal Jordan Imaginext figure. It just looked to goofy to me.

One Imaginext Green Lantern I am a fan of, however, is Kilowog!

Kilowog was originally released with a Green Lantern Oa playset, and I don't believe he was ever part of any other release. I found mine at the flea market and I am glad for it, as I was not interested in that larger playset.

Kilowog is a great figure - a bulkier sculpt to reflect his larger frame, and that alien pig-face is just wonderful. He does have his power ring molded on his hand (why didn't I take a shot of it?) but he did not come with any accessories.

Fortunately I have the Elf's sword from the Warrior Suit set and it looks like the perfect ring construct in Kilowog's hand.

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power,
Green Lantern's light!"

    1. He is a great one to have, I'm surprised he hasn't been re-released at all!

  2. It's a shame about the Green Lantern toys, because there was a lot of potential there. That property has almost as many aliens as Star Wars.

I wonder how hard it would be to recast some of those Imaginext weapons in clear green plastic? Some of the other accessories they've released in that line would work great as ring constructs.

    1. It would probably be pretty easy to do. If I were more of a GL geek I might tackle the task myself. Alas I am not.

  3. I'm so surprised they never took this body, replaced the head with the original Killer Croc one (they appear to be the same buck) and repainted it to make Red Lantern Atrocitus. Mildly retool Catwoman's cat as Dex-Star and voila! Instant two pack. An exclusive waiting to happen.

    1. From your comment to FP's ears I hope! those are great ideas for a custom at least. If I ever find an extra Kilowog I might try something along those lines!

    2. Awesome! Please post that if you do. Meanwhile, I wonder if that FP Ideas site would take that idea?
