Harley Qwednesday :: Alone Again, Naturally

Huzzah for Harley Qwednesday! The best day of the week, next to garbage day of course. (If your garbage is actually picked up today consider yourself doubly blessed.)

First up for today's edition I bring you an illustration of Harley by the best artist ever...me!

Harley go BOOM!

And next up I give you a real treat. Get a load of this picture from an actual honest to Grodd real OKCupid user:

I wonder if the Joker knows that his gal pal is on the prowl?

Yeah, she's tempting alright, but you know what they say about online dating pictures vs. the real thing.

She'd probably just show up to the date in normal clothes.

Tease.

Krang me, Krang me, they oughta' get a rope and hang me

Even though I enjoyed the cartoon and comic books, I didn't pay much attention to the original TMNT toyline at the time of it's original release. So finding them at the swap meet or via other secondary sources these days tends to result in some fun surprises.

This android body Krang is one of my favorite surprise finds from all eras of TMNT toys.

Krang (or at least his alien race) has been part of TMNT in some form or another from almost the beginning. This chunky fat-guy android bodied look is very specific to his original cartoon appearance, and is almost too corny to have been worth emulating since. So having this funky cool action figure is important for even a casual collector like myself.

My Krang does have some play wear...

...but I feel pretty lucky to have found him with a functioning door and actual Krang alien still inside! This is the type of thing that doesn't survive well over time on a loose played with figure, as kids tend to lose these types of little pieces.

Had I known back in 1994 that they made this figure I would have definitely tracked him down. I love funky alien robot-wearing brain monsters. Who doesn't?

"SHREDDER!"

What a G1-derful World

Get a load of these upcoming Transformers and feel the G1 love! First we have an all new Jazz which is pretty much too cool for words. Jazz is an absolute must have for me. And let's not forget about Tracks here. Not as pivotal in my collection as Jazz, but still pretty keen.

Even cooler in my mini-car-nostalgic mind is this upcoming scout class Windcharger! Not only is he a great modern Windcharger, but he transforms into a Mustang!

Oh yeah baby, I can't wait for these to hit stores!

Harley Qwednesday :: Almost Harley

Oh frabjous day, callooh callay, once again it's Harley Qwnednesday!

Let's start with some art. I was going through some old art files recently and came across this "Gotham Junior High" version of Joker and Harley Quinn I did many years ago.

And while perusing the internet looking for Smallville information, I found this picture of a singer named Kerli. As of this writing, I know nothing about her except that she sang a song used in a Smallville Season 10 commercial...

...but this image just screams Harley Quinn! Dontchya think?

If you want to know more about Kerli, check out her official website and of course Wikipedia.

Have a happy Harley Qwednesday! See ya' next week!

I B'Wana Rock and Roll All Night

Saw "Devil" tonight (loved it!) and on the way home I decided to stop by Toys R Us.

While there I couldn't believe my eyes when they fell upon this beautiful Beast:

B'Wana Beast! Odd that the card title emphasizes "Machete" over his name. Poor B'Wana gets no respect.

Finding this guy today is also pretty good timing, considering the season premiere episode of The Brave and the Bold that aired last night, and B'Wana's big role in it.

I absolutely love this guy and all the schlocky corny comic-bookyness that he represents. When I saw him on the shelf I literally grinned from ear to ear.

To have him in Brave and the Bold action figure style is just too cool for words.

Not sure of all the characters/figures available in this release. There was a "Ninja Batman" on the shelves, and on the back of Ninja Batman is a picture of Barry Allen Flash, but B'Wana's cardback only shows previously released figures. I do know a Gentleman Ghost was planned but do not know if he will be part of this release or not.

Regardless, I have me a B'wana, and I am a happy camper.

Harley Qwednesday :: Gotham Public Works

One of the best Harley Quinn Cosplayers around is this gal, from the Gotham Public Works team of Heroes and Ne'er-do-wells.

I've never seen these folks in person, but from the tons of images of them on their website and elsewhere online I can tell that their costumes are spot on; especially Harley's!

And obviously they know how to play to their characters' strengths!

Uh oh - Harley's getting angry! Think happy thoughts, Harley, murder, arson, Seinfeld re-runs!

The fun thing (I imagine) about playing Harley is that she has so much personality and character that transcends her costume/standard visual look. I mean, it'd be tough to pull off a cosplay Catwoman in a bathing suit, or a cosplay Huntress in a bikini, (although I am sure someone somewhere has tried,) but this "Harley Quinn at the beach" number is absolutely perfect, tasteful and still 100% in character. I can just see the beach-blanket-death-trap set for Batman and Robin now: "Hey Batman, what do you call a bucket-full of your little birdy friend? Chum! HA!"

Then Batman would water-ski in behind the bat-boat, jump the shark, grab Robin and save the day!

"Phooey."

Be sure to check out all the brilliant folks who make up Gotham Public Works at their website, and become their fan on Facebook too! But spend more time on Harley's pics, at least until Harley Qwednesday is over.

Shades of domino mask in repose.

Yummers.

Happy Harley Qwednesday!

Welcome welcome welcome to another installment of Harley Qwednesday! Y'all want this party started right? Y'all want this party started quickly?

Well okay then.

Not terribly fond of the lack of domino mask on old Harl in this image, and I prefer original trilogy Stormtroopers to these Clone Troopers, but whatevs. From Hot Chicks with Stormtroopers.

There's also a DC Infinite Heroes Harley Quinn prototype that may or may not be coming out soon. Here's the prototype that showed up on eBay a few weeks back:

"Hold me closer, tiny Harley. Count the headlights as you dodge them." Apologies to Elton John.

And this third Harley Quinn comes from yours truly:

From my art blog.

And last but certainly not least, a review (by me!) of the first appearance of Harley Quinn ever in the Batman: The Animated Series episode Joker's Favor, over at Batman: The Animated Toys Blog.

That's all, folks! C U Next...Qwednesday.

Have a happy!
