DC Collectibles Animated Batman 'Tales of the Dark Knight' Set Coming Soon!

Recent posts about my classic Batman Animated action figures got me searching online for info and checklists and stuff, and in my searching I discovered this DC Collectibles Animated Batman Tales of the Dark Knight three figure set due out October 2016!

Based on the 'What If' episode of Batman the Animated Series (or perhaps it happened during the re-branded TNBA era) this set includes a Frank Miller inspired Batman, Mutant Leader and Carrie Kelley Robin! I have a pretty nice collection of Robins, but not one single version of Carrie Kelley, and that is one badass looking Batman right there! I really want his set (or at least Batman and Robin) but at $70...well at least this set is being released before my birthday, so perhaps I can convince my someone to get it for me as a birthday present!

Harley Qwednesday :: Upcoming DC Collectibles Harley Quinn Action Figures!

DC Collectibles just solicited a bunch of incredible Harley Quinn action figures and there isn't a bum in the bunch!

I still remember when there was literally ONE Harley Quinn action figure n the entire world.

One. ONE! Yeah, ok, sure, I can also remember when there was zero, but I don't like to dwell on the hell that was a world without a Harley Quinn action figure.

Now, there are dozens, approaching hundreds; more than I can even possibly own!

It should surprise no one that a Margot Robbie Harley Quinn action figure from the upcoming Suicide Squad movie is coming. Pretty sure this movie is going to be a blast, and pretty sure it will re-define Harley Quinn for a whole new audience, so I think I need this action figure.

DC Collectibles is also releasing a series of Amanda Conner designer series Harley Quinn action figures. I absolutely adore Amanda Conner's artwork, and although I am so rarely a completist, this may be the line that breaks me. First up is classic Harley. I'm a sucker for classic Harley.

Next up is Space Harley. I am not reading the ongoing Harley Quinn monthly, so I have no idea why Harley went to space, but if Usagi Yojimbo and April O'Neil can do it, why the hell can't Harley?

Last up is Super Harley. Again, for reasons. I do like this character design, it's a cute look. Pretty sure I need this in my life. even more figures are promised in this line, and you know each one is going to be as adorable as the last.

Finally, DC Collectibles is offering up the BTAS Harley that has already seen release, but in a 'Girls Night Out' five pack with Poison Ivy, Live Wire, Supergirl, Batgirl and our girl Harley Quinn. This is a $100 dollar set if it's a nickel, so I will just add it to my birthday/Christmas list and be done with it.

So there you have it. 2016, which is apparently The year of the Harley.

Roller Derby Harley Quinn Action Figure Coming (not) Soon (enough)!

DC Collectibles just released these beautiful images of their upcoming Roller Derby Harley Quinn action figure, based on her recent appearance as, well, Roller Derby Harley Quinn, in the...you guessed it...Harley Quinn monthly series.

If there was ever a variant version of Harley Quinn I could get behind...

...get your minds out of the gutter...

...it is this one. Seriously. I am sitting here typing this after discovering this news and I am literally wearing a roller derby Harley Quinn t-shirt I got from TeeFury a few weeks ago. I am absolutely the target market for this specific action figure, and I cannot wait to see her in person.

Roller Derby Harley Quinn will be available July 2015 at a comic shop near you. Not soon enough, if you ask me!

Batman Animated Harley Quinn from DC Collectibles :: Harley Qwednesday

DC Collectibles just unveiled a look at a slew of new action figures and statues coming soon (and to be displayed at SDCC 2014) but who cares about all that other junk - what's important is this upcoming Batman: The Animated Series / The New Batman Adventures Harley Quinn action figure! A thing of sheer beauty, I believe this Harley Quinn action figure is due out December 2014. This will be mine!

Also revealed, and relevant to our interests here, was the Batman: Arkham Knight  Harley Quinn action figure. The face isn't as cute as the source material, but I will probably still pick this one up anyways.

So that's your latest Harley Quinn action figure news - very late on a late Friday night. Because Harley Qwednesday isn't just a day: it's a state of mind!

DC Collectibles 2014 Line-up Toy Fair Reveals :: TAKE ALL MY MONEY!

DC Collectibles just released to the media a sneak peek at all of their 2014 releases, and all I can say is DC Collectibles is about to get a ton of my money this year!

Say it with me kids: O-M-F-G! in 2014 DC Collectibles will be releasing all new action figures based on the penultimate in Batman on screen: Batman Animated action figures with multiple points of articulation and screen accurate sculpts! This Batman Animated Catwoman action figure WILL BE MINE...

...as will this GORGEOUS The New Batman Adventures Batman action figure. These are simply incredible looking action figures - no word yet on scale (I dare assume 6") or price etc. etc. but I will update you as soon as I find out because I am buying these on day one! EDIT: According to USA Today these will be 6" scale, retail for $24.95, and will be available November 2014. And according to MTV.com Two-Face and Mr. Freeze have also been announced! No word yet on Harley Quinn but my God will I plotz when she's announced!

And speaking of Harley Quinn:

Cuteness overload! DC Collectibles is releasing a Lil' Gotham series, and Harley Quinn is one of the first releases. Yup, buying this one on the spot too.

Leaving the more cartoony spectrum for a moment - get a load of Pajama Party Harley Quinn (from DC Collectible's Infinite Crisis line). Oh my God another must have! Harley Quinn in her pajamas, with a teddy bear taped to a bedpost and a super-soaker. LOVE!

And speaking of love...

Harley Quinn in Batman panties. Action figures have come a loooong way in my time. Expect me to own this one immediately too!

Other highlights (and figures on my list of 'almost must haves') include:
Designer Series Thrasher Armor Batman based on the art of Greg Capullo.

Infinite Crisis Atomic Poison Ivy.
Lil' Gotham Damian Wayne.

New 52 Batgirl.
And New 52 Supergirl.

Phenomenal action figures one and all - an incredible set of good Harley Quinns, an amazing surprise with the Batman Animated figures (and the sky is the limit as far as potential for that line goes!), and some good fun comic book accurate toys. I've got to get to my comic book store immediately to get my orders in!

Random Toy Pic :: Batzarro by DC Direct

One of my favorite non-Batman Batman figures in my collection is Batzarro, by DC Direct before they became DC Collectibles.

Batarro's design is based perfectly on the art of Ed McGuinness, as seen during McGuinness's run on Batman/Superman.

Mattycollector recently released their version of Batzarro as part of their Club Infinite Figures or Whatever it's Called, but for the price, and since I already have this version, I am content not owning the Mattel version.

Harley Qwednesday :: Bombshell Harley Quinn Cosplay

Toyriffic reader Ted sent along the following pics of his girlfriend cosplaying as Harley Quinn, inspired by the DC Collectibles Bombshell Harley Quinn statue.

"This costume was inspired by the DC Bombshell Harley Quinn art and statue. Most of the costume was modified from existing articles, but the gun, belt, pouches, jingle bell earrings, and bra were all custom made. The jacket was heavily modified with an added collar and art work on back. It was debuted at DragonCon 2013."

Gorgeous! Thanks again Ted for bringing this Harley Quinn Bombshell cosplay to my attention. When I first saw the Bombshell statue I made a plea to cosplayers everywhere to get on this look pronto, and you and your girlfriend really delivered! I'm certain it was a big hit at DragonCon.

DC Collectibles just announced the New York Comic Con Exclusive Super Best Friends Forever: Poison Ivy PVC Figure, and it looks gorgeous!

This Poison Ivy exclusive is limited to 2500 units. She is based on the Cartoon Network's animated Super Best Friends Forever shorts designed by Lauren Faust, and is sculpted by Irene Matar.

Hopefully this one is only exclusive because of the shiny paint job, and a standard version will be available to the rest of us eventually.

Harley Qwednesday :: Bombshell Harley Quinn

Coming soon from DC Collectibles, the greatest thing to happen to statuary since Michelangelo took chisel to granite:

Hubba mutherflippin' HUBBA!

The latest entry in the DC Collectibles 'Bombshells' line of gorgeous mid century American pin-up art inspired DC Universe Superheorines comes the one, the only...Harley Quinn!

Now there's just no way I can convince the wife to let me spend a hundred bucks to ogle this thing all day long. Fortunately, this Harley Quinn design will also be appearing on a T-Shirt!

At around $20, this I can get away with!

Here's a detailed look at the back of the statue and Harley's jacket. Cool stuff indeed!

I'm no statue collector, but this is one I'd gladly own...if I only could!

PS: A gentle plea to all the Harley Quinns out there...bring on the cosplay inspired by this statue ASAP!

Harley Qwednesday :: Injustice Harley Quinn 3.75" Action Figure

DC Collectibles revealed last week that they are releasing a 3.75" Harley Quinn action figure based on the upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us video game.

Apparently she'll come in a 2-pack with Cyborg. That's cool, I dig Cyborg!

No word yet on if this will be part of some hard to find set or convention exclusive or other ridiculousness, but I'd bet on it not being easy to find. Because I want one, and DC toys I want are notoriously hard to find.

Although this is DC Collectibles, not Mattel, so maybe there's hope.

In the meantime, check out this Injustice: Gods Among Us gameplay video featuring a battle between Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn (along with a surprise appearance from some other Bat-villains from an entirely different video game!)

Harley Qwednesday :: Suicide Squad Harley Quinn Statue by DC Collectibles

Everyone's least favorite Harley Quinn design/characterization is immortalized by DC Collectibles (formerly DC Direct) in this statue revealed at the 2012 San Diego Comic Con.

I just noticed, she has smashed her classic costume under her hammer. LAME!
