Imaginext Ice-Ice-Clayface!

A couple years ago Toys R Us began selling an exclusive Mr. Freeze Lair playset. The set came with a lair, a re-colored Mr. Freeze, a Batman, a Bat-Snowmobile and an ice version of the Imaginext Clayface!

The only piece  from the set that I had any interest in was Ice-Face (as I have dubbed him.) So I couldn't excuse the purchase of the whole set just to get Ice-Face. I just had to bide my time until this past weekend when I literally walked next door to find him for sale at a yard sale for a dollar...and I also got the lair and snowmobile for that same dollar!

Ice-Face is clearly in 'played-with' condition, having a few scuffed teeth and some scratches throughout, but for the price I can't complain. If I never find a nicer specimen I'll still be happy with this one. As with Clayface before him, Ice-Face's head is hinged and you can place a standard Imaginext figure inside him. What gives Ice-Face an added bit of 'oomph' is the fact that he's made of transluscent plastic, so you can see the guy just chillin' in his belly when he's inside.

It's really cool that I was able to skate on over to the neighbor's house and get Ice-Face for such a small amount of cold hard cash! HAW HAW HAW! I may be cold but my jokes are red hot!

Clay Lady Clay, Clay Across My Big Brass Bed

Clayface had never before been better represented than when he was re-imagined for the Batman Animated cartoon series. Who can forget that iconic animated moment when Batman bursts forth from Clayface via his grapple hook after being absorbed and presumably suffocated by the big brown mass of malleable mud!?!?

Clayface the action figure is a big rubber guy, he comes across as a bath toy in his makeup. But he's a perfect representation of his cartoon counterpart! One of his hands is transforming into blades, and the other...

...is morphing into a mace ball which is supposed to 'launch' when you squeeze Clayface's left arm. Mine never quite worked but I got it second-hand, so perhaps he worked well right out of the package. I was lucky to find my Clayface with his mace ball attached at the flea market many years ago. I also have a lighter brown version which came in a TRU exclusive four pack late in the line, and his left arm is different and does not include the mace ball feature. I will have to dig him out soon for a review too!

Upcoming Batman Action Figure Wants!

Mattel's basic 'evergreen' Batman line (Batman, Killer Croc, Joker) appears to have permanently shrunk from around 5" to around 3.75" in 2014, and the new smaller line will include an Azrael Batman!

Dubbed Action Wing Batman, this is the gaudy ridiculous literal killer Batman from the nineties you either love or love to hate.

Personally, I'm a sucker for Azrael Batman (see here, here, and here) and while I wish this figure was in the same scale as the handful of figures I 've already picked up in this style are in, I'll be hunting this one down for sure!

I can't say that I'll be getting this set, unless I get it as a birthday present this November or something. I don't really want everyone here - If I could cherry pick, I'd only get Azrael, maybe Robin...

...and Clayface. I like the extra gaping maw in his chest. Nice touch!

Deathstroke looks kind of cool, but I have a few good versions of Deathstroke and don't really care for the character enough to need to add more at this juncture.

Green Arrow is pretty cool in this style too. I do wish these were all available in the 6" size, but it is easier to build up a large set at this smaller scale, and hopefully they take advantage of the size and release some keen  newplaysets and vehicles!

I finally picked up the Imaginext Clayface the other day when I found him for $6.99 at K-Mart. I've seen this guy a few times and passed him up for whatever reason (sometimes it's because I see him at Target where I think he goes for a ridiculous $9.99!) so I'm glad I finally went for it this time, as sightings may or may not decrease as time goes by.

Clayface is fun, he has a hinged maw and hollow interior for all sorts of goody-two-shoes eating fun. He kind of reminds me of the classic Star Wars Rancor in his simple design, hard plastic construction and appetite for other action figures!

He also has a 'mud-mallet' that can be attached and removed from his hand. Otherwise he's pretty basic, but loads of fun and plays well with my 'mudded' Trio Batman.

And remember, 'mud' spelled backwards is 'dum.'

Actually his name isn't mud, it's Clayface, and he comes with a muddy Batman and a bat-missile launcher in this new little Fisher-Price Trio building blocks playset.

I have seen these Trio playsets around for a while now but wasn't particularly impressed at first and didn't plan on getting any of them.

They've got all sorts of neat figures and vehicles and playsets in the Batman line, and are releasing a bunch of Green Lantern stuff now too (including, of all things, a Red Lantern Atrocitus Battle Cruiser set!) Of course I only care about the Batman stuff, and I didn't even consider getting into it until I saw Clayface. Now I'm hooked!

These are cute little inexpensive sets with unique little figures that connect to the Trio blocks. This set comes with a mud splattered Batman. Or Batman after his birthday cake and chocolate ice cream has been gobbled up.

And of course Clayface. I had to have him; he looks like he'll fit right in with Lego mini-figures!

I didn't like the 'standard' Trio figures at first, but their design has grown on me now that I have a Batman. I'll probably get a few more, like Robin and of course any female characters they make in the future (IF that ever happens!) In the meantime, my muddy Batman waits vigilantly for signs of no-goodniks.

Clayface looks right at home next to Lego mini-figures, so he's currently my go-to shape-shifter in all my Lego adventures!

These little Trio figure sets are cute and fun, and it's always a pleasant surprise to find a character like Clayface representing. I think this set was about $7.99 or so at Toys R Us. Not bad for two figures and a useable accessory!

I found this pic on eBay (I blacked out the name plastered all over the image by the seller - I'm not here to advertise their auction, just to alert fans. But it's easy to find if you go to eBay and do a search for Imaginext Catwoman.)

Proof that the Imaginext Catwoman (with cat and super awesome motorcycle) is hitting shelves now! The seller is located in California and so far this is the only in package pic I have seen anywhere. Hopefully this is hitting stores en masse like, yesterday, because I gotta have one soon!

Oh yeah, the same seller has the Imaginext Clayface too! Man do I need these things!

The Batman Mr. Freeze :: Coolsville, Daddy-O

Inspired by Colin's recent The Batman acquisitions over at the Super-Duper Toy Box, I recently dug out one of the finest of the series from my own collection, Mr. Freeze.

Yup, I had never opened my Mr. Freeze until today! You could say he was in cold storage. Hahahahaha!

Sadly when I did open him, his freezing action sword (basically just a tube full of freezing goo that holds the cold) is now nothing more than a tube of sticky goo that does nothing. Oh well. A cute gimmick for the kiddies but I can live without it.

Here's the cardback, showing off the awesome Bat-Bot that you couldn't even get in the US (to my knowledge.) I hate it when the toy companies do that. It's enough to make me (ice) scream. Hahahahaha!

I really love this Freeze character design. I like how in the cartoon his body is skinny and frail but the containment suit gives him his girth. That is sort of represented on the figure with the clear upper arms, although since there is no skinny arm inside them a little bit of the effect is lost in translation. That's my only gripe, and not nearly enough to cause me a winter of discontent. Hahahahahaa!

I especially love how Freeze's 'helmet' is ice that has 'grown' out of the suit and encompassed his head. A very clever and fun design element!

There was a variant for this figure with 'features,' while this common figure had a featureless face (more in tune with the toon.) I had both at one time, but sold off the variant due to my preference for the more cartoon accurate version and I don't regret it at all. The other version just left me cold. Hahahaha!

And here are a few of Mr. Freeze's 'The Batman' compatriots who wanted in on the fun. Firefly, Clayface and The Ventriloquist with Scarface. I think the only other 'The Batman' villain I own is Joker, but you'll just have to wait to see him some other day.

ZOMG!! Catwoman! They FINALLY expand the line to include a female character! There is hope yet, society.

And that Catcycle is super bitchin! I'd drive one of those myself!

I am assuming that her face is incomplete and will have some more paint apps when this one hits store shelves (and I do hope and pray it makes it to store shelves!)

I need that Catwoman! I need many! I'll take nine, please.
