Wonder Woman in theaters NOW!

I saw Wonder Woman last night and loved it. I really believe that if the WW film franchise carries on (and there's no reason to believe it won't) then Gal Gadot will be the Christopher Reeve of this generation. The whole movie was great, but a stand-out for me was seeing the Golden Age villain Dr. Poison, played by actress Elena Anaya. She didn't have a ton of movie time but every moment with her on screen was mesmerizing. I hope the action figure lines are successful enough to get a second wave so I can get me a Dr. Poison action figure!

All the Amazon stuff was great, (I'd watch a whole movie about kid Diana, played by little actress Lilly Aspell), all the WWI stuff was great, it was just a great movie. Go see it!

In the meantime, here's a handful of Wonder Woman toys that belong to me and my daughters. Viva la Wonder Woman!

Catwoman Purrrsday :: Fast Food Pussycat, Kill Kill!

Many people speculated last week that the mysterious mini Catwoman I own may have been a fast food premium. Well to my knowledge Catwoman's animated form only appeared in kid's meals at McDonalds in 1993, and this is she.

Smaller than the standard Kenner action figure and larger than the mini figurine I posted last week, (and a different sculpt than the two,) this Catwoman is actually a pretty great looking action figure from an awesome set of Happy Meal toys that also included Batman Animated characters Batman, Batgirl and The Riddler in mini action figure form.

This Catwoman originally came with a solid plastic mountain lion cast in yellow, but mine has been lost to the ages. I'll eventually find one at the flea market or something, these toys are not hard to come by and pop up on occasion to this day for cheap.

In the meantime, I still don't know where this Catwoman came from!

Brave and the Bold: Plastic Fantastic

I'm lovin' the current Batman: The Brave and the Bold toy Happy Meal promotion at McDonalds. I've only been able to gather together releases #1, #2 and #4 so far, but with three toys in each release that's a lotta bats (and friends,) including two different Batmans (Batmen?) Solomon Grundy, Riddler, Penguin, Two-Face and Firestorm.

There are still a few I really want (Bat-Mite and Spectre top that list) and I admit I'd be happy with all of them. But thankfully, if unable to gather them all together before promotion's end, I have been lucky enough to have gotten one of the best in the bunch already:

ZOMG that is the greatest thing ever!

Yes McDonalds, this does indeed make up for all the fat people in America. You are forgiven.

I've always longed (hahaha get it) for a Plastic Man toyline. Imagine how many things he could be made into! I get it, he can make his hands into hammers and such, but that's been done a thousand times. Make him into a picket fence, a painting of Mona Lisa, a kangaroo, anything! The possibilities are endless!

Well at least I finally have him as a car, and I am happy.

One of the three sets I have procured also came with a Batmobile. These toys are small and more figurineish than hotwheelish - the wheels don't all roll (there is one wheel on the underside that does) and the construction is pretty simple, but who cares. Plastic Man is finally a toy car that I now own.

I am elastic...I mean, ecstatic!

Brave and the Bold back at McDonald's!

The next McDonald's Happy Meal Promo is none other than (another) Batman: The Brave and the Bold toy set!

Apparently there will be 8 sets, with each set including three toys! Nice! They look pretty simple and small but let's face it - they also look like a lot of fun!

Seriously, this is one neat looking pile of toys. Plastic Man as a car? Must have! Bat-Mite? Another must have! And - could it be? Do mine eyes decieveth me? After all these years of being told by Mattel that the Spectre is too scary a character for a kid's toy, McDonald's finally pulls the trigger??!?! Well if the fast food doesn't kill you I suppose the fright from such a scary toy will, right?

Word on the streets is that these will hit McDonald's on April 29th, which means if I go to my local McDonald's on April 29th I'll get stuck with a dumb leftover Rio toy. But whatever, I will have them all eventually!
