Half Shell Heroes Kraang

The more of these Half-Shell Heroes I get my hands on, the more I like them. Well, the villains, anyways. Ironically I don't have any of the Turtle brothers (besides a helmeted Raph but he doesn't count because he's not the 'standard' Raph). The Turtles themselves just come across as cheap and plain. But many of the villains are nice little designs with good sculpts, and this android Kraang is no exception. I like that he's holding a canister of mutagen (albeit he's PERMANENTLY holding it) and the limited paint apps actually work fine for this guy who's nothing more than a pink wad of bubblegum in a silver robot's belly.

I picked up Kraang from the flea market, but he was originally released in a two-pack with Leatherhead (who I have via a recent garage sale find.)

Feelin' Krangy

Tony from 'I'm Not a Kid Anymore' sent me his giant Android Body Krang - all the way from Australia!

I first discovered this version of Krang existed in action figure form when I found the 'standard' sized fellow at the flea market. Internet research led me to discover he had a massive counterpart. Years later Tony posted a picture of his massive Krang (get your minds out of the gutter) and I begged him for it and here we are! Now I have two! (Actually, I have three, this standard Krang was sent to me by Jboy of 'Revenge From the Cosmic Ark' a while back, and is in nicer shape than the one I found two years ago at the flea market. Funny how you can go from not knowing a toy exists to being buried in them in so short a time!)

Giant Sized Krang Thing here is in great shape, and is so incredibly nifty. He does have some play wear, as Tony liked to play with his toys (didn't we all?), and his antenna is missing, but otherwise he's perfect and I am glad to have him around Toyriffic HQ. He's just so ridiculous looking and awesome.

I have always loved the 'larger than life' character/figure additions to 'normal' sized figure themes, so having this big lug to go toe to toe with my TMNT is the definition of good times.

'I will hug him and squeeze him and call him Usagi.'

Of course just like with his mini-me version, the brain/blob Krang is removable from the android torso. As far as I know this larger Krang is the same figure as was released with his walking chair, which is the most common Krang figure around.

Android Body Krang is one of the all-time wackiest character designs ever and I just can't get enough of him in plastic form!

Random Toy Pic :: The Bigger They Are...

This giant sized TMNT Android Body Krang arrived to me from Australia thanks to my good bloggin' buddy Tony over at 'I'm Not a Kid Anymore.'

I love oversized toys like this that are designed to fit in with your 'normal' sized figures; but this guy does beg the question: is he an action figure, a playset or a vehicle?

I'll do a proper review of him in the future, but for now enjoy this brief glimpse! In the meantime, my Ninja Turtles better watch their shell-covered backsides!

Krang me, Krang me, they oughta' get a rope and hang me

Even though I enjoyed the cartoon and comic books, I didn't pay much attention to the original TMNT toyline at the time of it's original release. So finding them at the swap meet or via other secondary sources these days tends to result in some fun surprises.

This android body Krang is one of my favorite surprise finds from all eras of TMNT toys.

Krang (or at least his alien race) has been part of TMNT in some form or another from almost the beginning. This chunky fat-guy android bodied look is very specific to his original cartoon appearance, and is almost too corny to have been worth emulating since. So having this funky cool action figure is important for even a casual collector like myself.

My Krang does have some play wear...

...but I feel pretty lucky to have found him with a functioning door and actual Krang alien still inside! This is the type of thing that doesn't survive well over time on a loose played with figure, as kids tend to lose these types of little pieces.

Had I known back in 1994 that they made this figure I would have definitely tracked him down. I love funky alien robot-wearing brain monsters. Who doesn't?
