Harley Qwednesday :: Batman Live
Harley Quinn's 'Batman Live' costume may not be the most comic accurate, but you gotta admit, seeing her about to get the jump (literally) on Batman with that big ass hammer is pretty cool!

Jawa's got a gun
Jawa's got a gun
Tatooine's come undone
From lookin' straight at two suns
What did that R4 do?
Did he motivate bad on you?
They said when R4 was arrested
they found him underneath a dewback
But man, he had it comin'
Now that Jawa's got a gun
he ain't never gonna be the same.
Anyways, my Jawa is now complete. I found his gun at the flea market on Saturday. I won't tell you I got it for a quarter, because if I do you will hate me.

The awesomest thing you will see all day
In my relentless pursuit of all things DC Super Friends by Imaginext, I recently discovered that in 2005 Fisher-Price released a Griffin as part of their Imaginext Knights/Castle lineup. Upon discovering this tidbit of info, I then found one for cheap on eBay and now he is mine!
Upon first seeing him, the Griffin immediately reminded me of the episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold 'Gorillas in our Midst' wherein B'Wana Beast turns Batman into a Bat-Griffin. I suppose I could customize this guy into a Bat-Griffin, or I could team it up with my Imaginext Hawkman, but in the meantime I have placed a lightsaber wielding, helmeted Batman upon him in order to maximize his epicness.

You want to really piss me off? Do this (see last 'two' panels below)
Goddamnit. GODDAMNIT! I hate hate HATE when a comic book artist literally photocopies a panel and only adds minor embellishment to progress the story. WHOSE RESPONSIBLE THIS?!?! The penciller? The inker? Either way, it's just lame, cheap, and cheating. I get that only one millisecond has elapsed here - Batman's a ninja, Bullock is unaware of his shadowlike movements. I get it. But would it have killed you, would it REALLY have pushed you so far over deadline to have drawn Bullock twice. When a major chunk of an image is just photocopied at best it appears as if the person in the image is frozen in time/space and at worse it tears me from the story like being shaken awake from a dream.
Batman might as well be sneaking up to a lamppost. Not even the cigar smoke has changed. Batman may be fast, but BATMAN IS NOT THE FLASH!

Superman Movie Report.
No, not that Superman movie...the GOOD one!
'Dear DC Comics Reader:
I'm sure by now you're all well aware that a major multi-million dollar motion picture production of SUPERMAN is being filmed for release next summer....
(Chris Reeve - SUPERMAN): "Our movie is everything - it's adventure, it's comedy, it's 'Fantasia', it's '2001'. But it's also a real story in the sense that it's about real people with real values...'truth, justice and the American way' are real ideals worth defending."
Sounds promising!
Click the pic to read the whole thing.
I still remember sitting in the theatre and being amazed when the credits began to roll at the end of Superman and it said: "Coming Soon: Superman II" or something to that effect. I couldn't believe my luck, there was a guaranteed sequel already! (Remember, this was 1978, the days before every film had three sequels and a reboot already on the books before the first one was even finished being edited. I was also only about 4 years old.)
To this day, whenever I hear the Superman theme 'da, nananana, da da daaaaa!' I can't help but put my fists out in front of me and run around the room like I'm flying. It's Pavlovian.

...Sherlock...Holmes!
I went back to Toys R Us today and the series five mini-figures were pretty well picked over, but I was able to score a Sherlock Holmes!
The best part about old Shirley is that he comes with a functioning magnifying glass!
I have been placing him all over the house today, investigating every little thing. He's quite the snoop, old Mr. Holmes.
Someday I'll have a Lego Batman and these two will have a battle royale to determine the true 'World's Greatest Detective.'

Flea Market Finds
I've got a big backlog of toys and things I need to blog about, and I just keep on getting myself further behind! I've received some stuff in the mail that I need to give shout outs to and about, but I keep getting distracted by new Flea Market acquisitions. Damn this California year-round flea market weather!
So I figure I best just bunch today's...bunch...together in one post (and maybe focus a little closer on individuals later.)
Leatherhead and Midshipman Mike from TMNT, along with four mini-figures from various TMNT toys as well. Midshipman Mike is almost a Popeye Turtle, so I had to have him! The bulldog(s) (Biting Bulldog Buddy) went with Raph, the Green Teen Beret. The machine gun wielding seagull (Sewer Sea Gull) goes with Midshipman Mike, and the green monster is named Joe Eyeball and belongs to Muckman. The TMNT lot set me back three bucks.
On the OG Star Wars front, I found a Jawa and a Tusken Raider for three bucks each. I am not really focusing my collecting habits on Star Wars at the moment, yet I can't pass certain ones up when I see them, especially the Jawa whom I had as a kid and have always wished to re-attain. I never owned an original Sand Person but did want one as a kid, so here he finally is after 30 plus years.
Finally, Mirror Master from JLU. I actually found this guy at a baby store that sells used baby stuff today after we left the flea market. Baby clothes shopping isn't so boring after all! I simply couldn't pass up a cheap JLU figure, I think he was a buck.
So that's how I spent half a Saturday and ten bucks. Not a bad day at all!

Lego Mini-Figures Series 5 at Toys R Us TODAY!
A slight detour in the middle of my day led me to Toys R Us for a quick walkthrough - which turned into a few minutes of squeezing mini-figure packages when I discovered the display of Lego Mini-Figures Series 5 up at the front of the store!
I will blog about what figures I found soon,I got exactly what I wanted and some for the kids too, but for now here's the checklist. Good luck and happy squeezing!
Want a hint as to the two figures I found for myself? Well, some people call me a gangster of love...
