I'm just a skater Batman. Said 'See ya' later Robin!'

Christian Slater ain't got nothing on me.

I decided that the Batman figure that came with the Arkham Asylum Batmobile is pretty much perfect for the Bat-Mountainboard.

Skateboarding is not a crime.

His costume coloration and matching batsymbol - not to mention his helmet - make this the best Imaginext Batman for gleaming the cube on those cold Gotham City nights.

The Batmobile? It's in the shop.

I wasn't really a fan of this Batman when I got him with the Batmobile, but I really dig him as a sidewalk surfing Bats! His head also turns (a little bit) which is kind of a pre-requisite when you are on a skateboard.

Mountain Batman & Ace by Imaginext

Back in 2014 Imaginext released one of their most ridiculous Batman variants to date. Batman on a mountainboard. He reminds me of the lugeing Batman from the finale episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold. All he needs is a shark to jump.

'Mountain Batman' is packaged with the only Ace the Bathound yet released by Imaginext, and although it's a pretty 'off-model' Ace, it's Ace, so I wanted the set for Ace but didn't really want a skateboarding Batman. Therefore when I saw the set at retail one time, I passed. I regretted it, and never saw the set again until just last week, at which time I not only rejoiced at having an Imaginext Ace, but also though to myself 'what the hell was I thinking not wanting a skateboarding Batman?!?!?!'

Ace looks to be based off the grey Great Dane that was Ace in the Batman Beyond cartoon. I prefer a German Shepherd Ace but whatyagonnado? Sadly he doesn't stand on a flat surface with that paw up in the air like he just doesn't care. But he does have a cape, which is more than most Imaginext Robins can say!

"Tell me. Do you spelunk? You will."

This Mountain Batman is pretty ridiculous until you realize it could well be an armored Batman ala The Dark knight Returns/Batman v Superman, and then it becomes a pretty boss Batman indeed.

The Bat-Board is pretty righteous, and I only regret that Batman can't turn his head to see which way he's rolling. There are pegs so his feet stay securely planted which is a nice touch and in keeping with Imaginext's feet-activated doohickeys. He also comes with a pick-axe because he's spelunking.

This set has been pretty hard to find for Imaginext fans. As I said before, I only ever saw him one single time back in 2014. But perhaps me finding him last week at Wal-Mart bodes well and is proof he has been re-released. Good luck, because no one should be without a skateboarding Batman!

Santa Cruz Skateboards Star Wars Rancor Deck

I turned the big Four-Oh (my God I am getting old!) last month. To celebrate the monumental occasion, my parents bought me a new skateboard deck!

Being a fan of skateboards and Star Wars and living in Santa Cruz, I had my eyes on the Santa Cruz Star Wars decks ever since they were announced. A lot of cool decks are available, but I didn't feel the compelling need to own any of them until I saw the Rancor board at a skate shop in downtown Santa Cruz a couple months ago.

Up top is Jabba the Hutt, C-3PO and Boba Fett gazing down...

...as he makes his way towards his lunch, aka Luke Skywalker, who is trying desperately to avoid becoming the Rancor's next bowel movement!

When I added the Rancor board to my birthday list I honestly didn't expect to get it. It was one of those 'wish' items I didn't think I'd ever own (unless I bought it for myself). so I was very happy when my parents surprised me with it!

I might get bigger wheels for it eventually; I just transferred the wheels and trucks over from my existing cruiser. But it rides smooth as silk and slick as snot as it is, so it may just stay this way for a long time!

On the flip-side is the Star Wars logo against a spacey background. The board is wood-grained on top, and it would have been a real shame to cover it with grip tape, so I went with clear spray-on grip.

The Rancor was always one of my favorite Star Wars monsters, and living in Santa Cruz I am partial to Santa Cruz skateboards. Having the two world's collide is pretty keen!

Little Green Skater Men

I recently spotted these cool new toy Skateboarders over at Dan's Toy Museum and simply had to get my hands on some of my own!

Little Green Army Men meets your local skate park. The Original AJ's Toy Boarders Skate Series One:

Each pack contains 24 little monochrome plastic skaters in eight different styles. If I was still in school I would totally be bringing these guys in my pockets and playing with them when I wasn't supposed to be.

Simple and fun and ready for your imagination to take over, these little green skater dudes are a great toy for anyone. Sometimes simple is better, and there's something just 'right' about the simple cast plastic figurine that kids today may be missing out on.

Get some of these to remind yourself and enlighten your kids.

My only complaint is that there are no girls in the series, but according to the creator of these guys, future series will include girl skaters!

I'm just a skater nerd

My good pal Chunky B sent me some extras when I bought his Gorilla Grodd off eBay a while back. Included was a bunch of stickers he designed for Tate's Comics. Which I applied liberally to my skateboard (with some help from my daughter.)

I wanted to show Chunky B some pics, then I figured 'why not show everybody?' So here they are.

Santa Cruz Skateboards (aw yeah locals!) have teamed up with Matt Groening or 20th Century Fox or their lawyers or whomever is in charge of this sort of thing to bring us the 'Bart Model' skateboard (along with a few other keen Simpsons themed boards!)

Recreating the iconing skateboard Bart Simpson rides at the beginning of every episode of, well, The Simpsons, the Bart Model comes complete with nineties neon colors...

...and Simpsonized decals including one of the iconic Santa Cruz Skateboards Screaming Hand. how freaking insanely cool is that?

I've honestly been wanting a cruzer skateboard for some time now, even though I haven't ridden a skateboard since I was in elementary school. This may be the board that finally gets me into the ER!
