Shadow Ops Black Helicopter Strikeforce by Tim Mee

In addition to the Bucket of Army Men they recently sent me, Tim Mee also sent along this Shadow Ops Black Helicopter Strike Force pack!

Black helicopters? Cool! Let's investigate this bag like Scully and Mulder!

Up first is this Blue Thunder/Airwolf type helicopter. Honestly, I know nothing about helicopters beyond pop culture, which would make the helicopter-flying branch of my family (yes there is one) ashamed. But they probably know little to nothing about superheroes, so, well, they win because their knowledge is marketable.

Oh well.

Next is a more 'Huey' type chopper. I am seriously just going to slap some yellow oval bat symbol stickers on these things so I can have a couple unique Batcopters in my collection!

The set comes with two choppers (with rotating blades) and six little black police figures. I like to give these generic guys individual names, so come along for the ride:

Sergeant Shouty McBullhorn. Codename: 'Whispers.'

Officer Cecil B. DeRadio. Codename: 'Handheld.'

"HANDHELD! HANDHELD! CALL IN THE CHOPPERS! WE'VE GOT A JAYWALKER ON 38TH AND MISSION STREET!"

"We're already here, 'Whispers.' You don't have to yell."

Officer Elbow Jones. Codename 'Ninety-Degrees.'

Lieutenant Quincy Magoo. Codename: 'Longshot.'

Officer Ollie Slick. Codename: 'Puddle-Jumper.'

Officer Leslie Kneelson. Codename: 'Stubby.'

You can get your own pack of Shadow Ops Helicopters and Officers at Amazon! DO IT!

Tim Mee Bucket of Army Men

The fine folks at VictoryBuy sent along the Tim Mee Bucket of Army Men for review, so let's bust this bad boy open and see what's inside!

ZOMG it's chock full of Army Men!

48 soldiers to be precise, along with a mini mountain, a couple flags, a tank, a sticker sheet and two jet fighters!

And you thought buckets were only good for holding fried chicken!

The F-14 is basic but cool. I can hear the Nintendo Top Gun video game theme song now!

But seriously, Top Gun can suckit - the F-15 was always the jet for me. BOOOMBS AWAAAAAY!

As longtime fans of Toyriffic know, I can't get enough of the Tim Mee Battle Mountain (it's the backdrop for nearly every shot I take!) so it goes without saying (BUT I'LL SAY IT ANYWAYS!) that the mini mountain is my favorite part of this bucket! Now my pics can have a great big grey plastic rock in the background AND the foreground. SWEET!

Looks like The Tans have the high ground...call in the heavy artillery!

The Greens get the tank, while The Tans obviously got the aircraft. WHO WILL WIN?!?!

If you want your own bucket (*fired chicken not included) go git it on Amazon!

Tim Mee Summer 2015 Reissues

The fine folks at VictoryBuy just sent over some packs of their latest Tim Mee reissues, so let's take a gander at all the retro plastic goodness!

TimMee Toy Tanks for Plastic Army Men: Tan WW2 3pc - Made in USA

Tank Command Desert Division. Three sweet tan tanks - I swear I had dozens of these when I was a kid. These things pair perfectly with Little Green Army Men, Hot Wheels, LEGO etc. I had hundreds of sandbox battles with similar tanks when I was a wee lad.

TimMee Combat Patrol: Green 4 Piece Playset - Made in USA

Combat Patrol Army Vehicles and Artillery. Two Jeeps with towable cannons. Oh man, these Jeeps were always my favorite go-to battle vehicles. They may not have been heavily armed (although the cannon makes up for that) but they were always fast and maneuverable.

Tim Mee People Play Figures: Green and Putty Color 24pc Playset - Made in USA

People at Play Atomic Family Figurines. These have nothing to do with the military theme of the other two sets, but sometimes civilians need rescuing, or are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. BOOM!

When I first opened the box from VictoryBuy I assumed my intern would take to the family figurines. But she was way more into the tanks.

You think you know someone.

Of course Batman had to bring in his friends to stop the evil tanks, not to mention his own anti-tank Batmobile (ala the Arkham Knight video game.)

The tanks come with a simple sticker sheet with serial numbers and stars to add a bit of detail to their monocolored bodies.

There are no actual wheels, but of course the turrets rotate.

The tanks look great alongside LEGO (and BootLEGO) minifigures!

Supergirl says "The party's over!"

The Jeeps/cannons also come with the same sticker sheet to add stars and serial numbers. They look better against the green plastic than against the tan. The Jeeps roll beautifully and I really love these little military vehicles. Like their real world counterparts, they are so versatile and unstoppable!

The artillery cannon links to the Jeep easily and stays attached while hauling ass across the carpet or couch.

The seats are the perfect size for LEGO minifigures, although there's nothing to keep them from flying out of their seat when maneuvering.

But you could easily rectify that by using tape or improvising a seatbelt or something.

"What my cousin said!"

The People at Play set comes with a whole mid-century family in green and tan, and is a lot of retro kitsch fun. First up is Dad with his pipe and hammer. Or maybe this is a homicidal maniac. Your call.

Next up is little brother playing fetch with the family dog. Unless the dog can throw it back, the catcher's mitt is overkill.

Cheerleader sister. Or some gal super excited to have gotten a pair of afro wigs for Christmas.

Older brother with football. He's a good sport.

Jump roping little sister with stereotypical cat getting too close for his own safety.

And finally, Mom with trowel and pot. Moms love gardening!

Thanks again to VictoryBuy for these great review samples. You can pick up any or all of these brand new sets at the links below:

Kings of the Wild Frontier!

Today we take a look at the Tim Mee Backwoods Battle Frontiersman Figures Set!

Little green army men too mainstream for you? Looking for more manly beard in your little plastic men? Then this set is for you: The Backwoods Battle set from Tim Mee includes 24 Frontiersman (or as we called them when I was a kid: Mountain Men.)

My elementary school mascot was a Mountain Man, and I would get 'Mountain Man of the Month' pretty much every month for my good grades, so these guys are a fond reminder of times gone by.

I especially like this guy, who is about to bludgeon some homesteaders with the butt of his rifle, because bullets don't grow on trees you know!

This Mountain Man is looking for a good woman. Or a knot hole of modest size. He's been alone for a looong time.

"Squeal like a pig!"

As you can see, the Frontiersmen are slightly larger than your average little green army men.

But they are in 1:1 scale to dinosaurs. Science!

I have to assume these guys originally came with horses or perhaps mules, because a few of them are bowlegged. Either that or they all have rickets. I suppose that too is scientifically accurate.

SCIENCE!

"I will both shoot AND stab you! No, you don't want to know what I'll do to you after that."

"Is that a b'ar? I kilt one of those when I was just three!"

This set really needs a few large bears or a moose or something. But they have their charms. If you're into plastic icons of lonely self sufficient men with dead animals on their heads (and who isn't?), I recommend you pick up a set.

But don't take my word for it:

*Toyriffic was sent this set for review from the manufacturer. You can get yours at Amazon.
