66 Batman BootLEGO Minifigs

Since the 66 Batman Batcave LEGO set is priced way out of my range (and I wouldn't know where to display the thing if I did buy and build it) I did the next best thing and bought a set of eight 66 Batman bootLEGO minifigs off eBay for about a buck each!

As great as the character selection is with this set (it lacks a Riddler, but otherwise has all the minifigs from LEGO set 76052) the quality of these bootLEGOs is relatively low. Not low enough to pass on them for around a buck each, but not the best quality bootLEGOs out there by any means. There's lots of plastic 'flashing' and many paint apps don't line up. A couple of the figures' feet' barely lock into the base (or other LEGO pieces) and there's been some plastic stress marks show up on pieces that fit tightly together. Also, as happens with many bootLEGOs, once I had Batman's cowl in place it's pretty permanent. So he does have two expressions, but it's going to be a task getting the cowl off to turn his head around. That's ok, as I picked the expression I liked best first. I've learned what to expect with bootLEGOs!

Robin has two expressions too, and fortunately his hair pops off easy enough to spin his head around. Unfortunately...

...the paint apps are not too clean and it looks like he may be missing a tooth or something.

'The umm, ahem, blue phone, sirs.'

Alfred is a welcome addition tot he set, the first minifig Alfred I've ever owned, LEGO, bootLEGO or otherwise.

Alfred also has two expressions and, inexplicably, a translucent blue phone. But who cares, he's awesome!

Adam West's Bruce Wayne. Keen!

Brucie also has an alternate expression.

Burt Ward's Dick Grayson.

And alternate expression.

Catwoman. She looks more like Lee Meriwether to me, but who can say.

Catwoman's alternate head is a masked face!

Cesar Romero's Joker!

With mustache and yellow teeth!

This Joker's alt expression is classic Romero! I love it!

Burgess Merideth as Penguin! Penguin only has one expression, but he comes with a bootLEGO umbrella so I guess that makes up for his lack of a cigarette holder in his mouth.

The best part of having Bruce and Dick minifigs is being able to make maskless Batman...

...and maskless Robin minifigs!

Even Alfred got in on the fun...

Umm...err...ahem...nevermind, nothing to see here. Goodbye.

Random Toy Pic :: Batman Animated Family

I took this picture over 11 years ago. At the time I had a spare room and put together a little Bat-Family shelf with all the key members from the Batman Animated toyline.

Batgirl
Commissioner Gordon.

LEGO Ninja Man-Bat Commando Army Invasion!

I am now up to a grand total of six Ninja Man-Bats (aka Vampire Bat) minifigures from Lego blind bagged Series 8. I'll probably stop actively looking for them now, but if I am standing around the Lego aisle and have squeeze time, I'm going to keep passively looking for more!

'Did you hear something, Alfred?'

'Just a bat, sir.'

I also built this mini Batcave and customized a Michael Cain Alfred to go along with the black costume Batman from the Batski polybag set.

I'll probably evolve and expand upon the mini Batcave as time goes by, and as my Ninja Man-Bat Commando Army grows!

Lego Series 8 Man-Bat

Ninja Man-Bat, that is!

This is of course the Lego Minifigures Series 8 'Vampire Bat' slightly modified into a modern era Ninja Man-Bat via blue 'pants' and a Lego Katana.

This figure originally comes with black legs and no accessories, but that just wouldn't do, especially since he's the harbinger of my Lego Ninja Man-Bat Army which I will accumulate as I gather up as many of this figure as I can get my Lego-squeezing hands on!

Other than official bat themed Lego minifigures, this guy is pretty much the coolest minifigure to date. Previously only available in the Monster Fighters Vampire Castle, I never thought I'd get one so I am more than stoked that he's been released as a single. Even if I have to squeeze every package to get him. ;)

'Say 'hello' to my little friend!'

'I'm Man-Bat, so you have to be Pennyworth Alfred now.'
'Very good, sir.'

Movie Masters...Joseph Gordon-Levitt?!?!

Okay, if anything at all is indication that the character of John Blake (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is going to be a big (and I mean HUGE) deal in the upcoming smash hit The Dark Knight Rises, it is the fact that he has a Movie Masters action figure coming soon!

Oh yeah, and Alfred. There will have been three movies in this Bat-trilogy and it is only now that one of the most pivotal characters in Batman mythos and the Nolan movies, Alfred, is just getting his treatment in the Movie Masters line. It took until far after the second film was released that Jim Gordon even got a figure!

Yet here we are, months before the release of The Dark knight Rises, and we're supposed to accept that some ordinary beat cop played by the kid from Third Rock From the Sun is somehow worthy of plastic and collectors' shelf space? Not even Ra's Al Ghul, the lynchpin of the trilogy, has been immortalized (pun intended) in Mattel's Movie Masters line!

But here we have policeman John Blake.

Who?

Exactly!

Mark my words, 'John Blake' is going to be IMPORTANT in the upcoming end chapter to Christopher Nolan's amazing Batman trilogy!
