Arkham Video Games Scarecrow BootLEGO Minifig

Had to get this BootLEGO Arkham video game version of Scarecrow. They even gave him a wolverine claw to emulate his hypodermic needle fingers!

This guy is just too creepy cool looking!

Get a load of that face. Yech! This is a fun BootLEGO version of Scarecrow and the details are spot-on to the video games. And his quality is top notch for a BootLEGO. Highly recommended!

Arkham City Mr. Freeze

John from Robot Monster Space Superhero sent me this DC Multiverse Mr. Freeze a few months ago. Mr. Freeze is incredibly detailed for this 3.75" scale.

The DC Multiverse line can be a little inconsistent - some figures have accessories, some don't. Some are pretty plain, while some are beautifully sculpted. Mr. Freeze has got to be one of the line's best so far!

This is of course Mr. Freeze as he appears in the Arkham City video game. It's incredible how iconic the video game series and designs have become. They are now a deeply ingrained aspect of the greater Batman mythos.

Thanks again to John for this cool (get it? haw haw haw) Mr. Freeze!

Batman: Arkham Origins Revealed!

Gameinformer magazine has just released information on the next installment of the Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City videogame series.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be a 'prequel' to those games, and is set for release October 25th 2013 on all those video game systems you know and love.

Check out the video below for some story tidbits and concept art, and be sure to follow along with Gameinformer magazine as they continue to release more exclusive news over the next few weeks!

My only personal concern is that the game won't be developed by Rocksteady (the studio that released the first to Arkham video games) and will instead be produced by Warner Bros. Games Montreal. Will Batman: Arkham Origins be the 'X3' or 'Shumacher' of the series? Or will WB Studios be able to match (or dare I say it, top) what Rocksteady has done?

Only time will tell.

Harley Qwednesday :: Arkham City Harley Quinn action figure

My cheap Arkham City Harley Quinn arrived last week - only two days after I ordered her!

I like my toys like I like my women - cheap and fast!

Ordering her online, I was of course nervous that I'd get 'Matteled' and end up with a Harley Quinn with three left feet or half a face, but I was either lucky or Mattel is getting better about their QC.

Because she looked flawless both in package...

...and out!

This Arkham City Harley Quinn action figure never hit the shelves in my area, or if she did she sold out in seconds because I never saw her at retail. So seeing her for under ten bucks shipped on WalMart.com really made my month! She's got all sorts of details, a far nicer figure than most DCUC figures due to their smooth bucks and lack of details. Harley Quinn is covered in details from her costume buckles and ribbing and bas relief diamonds to her tattoos and painted pony tails. This action figure really shines!

Arkham City Harley Quinn comes with a base, a bat, and a mini poster. Apparently Mattel still felt like giving us value in 2011 when this HQ was released, because nowadays you get an action figure and nothing more.

"That luscious tan, those ruby lips, and hair color so natural, only your undertaker knows for sure!"

Arkham City is of course my favorite video game ever, and Harley Quinn is my favorite femme fatale, so I'm more than elated to finally have her in my collection.

I still do not own a Nurse Harley (DC Direct's Arkham Asylum version continues to elude me at a decent price) so I am grateful I was able to get her Arkham City version for so cheap!

Her only drawback is that she doesn't seem able to pull her head up - she's always looking down. But I suppose, all things considered, that's a minor quibble and something I am able to live with. I just need to put her up on a high shelf or something.

At press-time the Batman Legacy Edition Harley Quinn (Arkham City version) is available on WalMart.com for $7.97! That's half off Wal-Mart's already cheaperthananywhereelse price.

Better still, you can have her shipped to your local store for free or shipped to your home for .97! That's right, 97 cents!

A deal almost as crazy as Harley herself!

I don't trust Mattel's QC any farther than I can throw a broken-off-in-package limb from a DCUC action figure, therefore I hate buying sight unseen; but at this price I had to bite, especially since I never ever saw this figure in person anywhere (the only thing worse than Mattel QC is Mattel distribution, folks.)

So keep your fingers crossed that I get a good one, and go grab one yourself while the price is right!

Harley Qwednesday :: Injustice "Alternate Earth" Harley Quinn

It appears an 'Alternate Earth' costume will be available for Harley Quinn in the upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us video game. No word yet on how you will access this costume (in game win, DLC, pre-order exclusive?) but as you can see from the in game image above and the concept art below, it is clearly inspired by Harley's Arkham City groove.

I dig it!

Bane will also be getting an Alt. Earth costume inspired by Arkham City, but this is Harley Qwednesday not Banerday, so screw him. One can assume more heroes and villains will be getting alternative versions as well.

Catwoman Purrrsday :: Wii U Armored Catwoman first look

I don't know anything about the 'Wii U' but I believe it's the next iteration of Nintendo's Wii (I'm at least THAT smart.)

Anyways, Wii U's version of Arkham City will include all the DLC from previous versions as well as exclusive armored-up versions of Batman and Catwoman. Keen.

"Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition contains all of the content from Batman: Arkham City, including all available downloadable content, and introduces Battle Armored Tech (B.A.T.) Mode and the new Armored Suits for both Batman and Catwoman. Fans can become the Dark Knight like never before with the upgraded battle suit that gives players an additional power-up by allowing them to build kinetic energy during combat.  When activated, players enter B.A.T. mode and dole out more damage than previously possible.

The Wii U GamePad provides instant access to the wrist-mounted Batcomputer throughout the game, allowing players to use the touch screen to seamlessly select objectives, choose their gadget, track forensic evidence, upgrade their gear, detonate explosive gel, and more, all while remaining immersed in the action. Additionally, all gadgets have been reimagined to utilize the power of the GamePad, offering an unprecedented level of accuracy when using the Batarang and scanning for clues.

Harley Qwednesday Extra :: Playmobil Harley Quinn's Revenge

Just a quick pic in honor of the new Arkham City add-on 'Harley Quinn's Revenge.' A Playmobil version of Harley in mourning! I played some of the game this morning and am loving it as much as the rest of Arkham City.

Poisunday Ivy :: Arkham City Poison Ivy

 

I'm still playing Arkham City; I finished it once and am now playing the 'plus' version through again. Still trying to get the last handful of Riddler trophies, and enjoying the story a little more now that I can pay closer attention to it (first time through I was spending too much time in awe and wonderment to catch everything!)

I like the Poison Ivy level with Catwoman, but am not a huge fan of Pamela's character design. Walking around pantless seems silly, and her hair flowing like there's a breeze (where there isn't) is a bit awkward.

I like the design by Carlos D'Anda above with the panties. At least she's not completely exposed. Sometimes less is more.

Harley Qwednesday :: Springfield Punx

You know, I don't usually go in for this 'Springfield Punx' stuff because, you know...get your own damn style...seriously, I'd have much more respect if this guy was doing his own thing...but it would behoove me to not highlight this Simpsonized Arkham City Harley Quinn because even I have to admit it hits on all cylinders.

Arkham City Batcave DLC

So if you happen to have been playing Arkham City nearly every single night since it's release (which I am) you may be getting to a point where you are getting a little bored (which I am not.) In fact, I finally collected enough Riddler Trophies last night to track down Riddler's hideout!

Then I went to bed.

Which means tonight I bring the smack-down on that question mark clad sonofabitch.

But what then? Well, it appears even more new downloadable content will be made available just in time for your significant other to call it your Christmas present (which mine already has.)

The Batcave challenge map will be available for download on December 20th. I still need to download the Nightwing DLC as well, so I'll probably get them both and ring in the new year with even more Arkham City fun!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday. Yay me!

Normally as my birthday approacheth, I hit up every family member and tell them exactly what I want, at exactly what store to find it, on exactly which aisle to find it, on exactly which shelf to find it...you get the picture.

But having a baby changes you. No, I'm not giving up on needing more toys that my children. I just haven't been focused on my needs lately. For instance: sleep. Apparently I don't need that as much as I previously thought.

Anyways, other than my beautiful baby girl, I did receive a gift from my woman back on October 18th: Batman Arkham City. And again, other than my beautiful baby girl, Arkham City has consumed most of my attention since it's debut.

I got the Robin DLC version, so there are challenge maps where you can play as Robin in his Arkham City costume, his Batman: Animated costume, and my favorite, Red Robin:

Robin is a real badass in this game; he moves lightning quick and wields a mean bo staff. While Batman is pretty much a pummeler, and Catwoman is super fast but not very strong, I find Robin to be the perfect blend of speed and power.

I'm tempted to get the Nightwing DLC but I think I'll wait until the game starts to bore me. There's so much to Arkham City, with all the side missions, combat maps, challenge maps, etc etc...not to mention Catwoman...that it's keeping me well entertained a month into it. Happy birthday to me indeed!
