What if the all female Ghostbusters universe was formed when the original Ghostbusters crossed the streams?

This idea - call it a theory, speculation, or simply my own personal canon until it is either proven 'true' in the upcoming film or more likely not referenced at all - came to me today in a moment of brilliant clarity:

What if the all female Ghostbusters alternate universe was formed when the original Ghostbusters crossed their proton streams fighting Gozer the Gozarian?

It's still very early in the Ghostbusters reboot game; what we do know is that Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will star as female versions of the Ghostbusters in the reboot directed by Paul Feig, slated for a 2016 release.

What we don't know is...well...anything else. What do you expect, it's only February 2015 fer chrissakes!

The movie will be a reboot, and will cast the four brilliant women noted above in the roles of Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore made famous - iconic - by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson in the original 1984 Ghostbusters movie.

And while the movie is likely to be nothing more than a fun re-imagined re-gendered reboot with female actors in roles previously etched onto our pop culture psyche by male actors, well, imagine for a moment if it were something...more!

Imagine if, when the Ghostbusters of 1984 crossed the streams of their Proton Pack particle accelerators in their battle with Gozer the Gozarian (according to the Ghostbusters Wiki, a genderless "ancient, ultra-powerful, malignant entity from another dimension" - who just so happened to appear to our original Ghostbusters as a female...)

"Are you a God?"
...instead of either "all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light" or simply "Total protonic reversal," crossing the proton streams and the 'destruction' it wreaked on Gozer and it's interdimensional portal actually altered all of time and space and in turn created a whole new dimension wherein four women in 2016 become Ghostbusters instead of four men in 1984.

Yes, it's just my humble theory, based on nothing more than the news of an all female Ghostbusters reboot coupled with about a hundred viewings of the film since 1984 and a healthy obsession with fictional alternate universes and the real scientific theories they are based on. But it sure makes for a fun concept, doesn't it?

Back off man, I'm a Scientist.
